Retreat Layouts!

Here are the layouts I completed this weekend at the Scrapbook Creations retreat!! So here we go...

Hello Miami

Some pics from our Miami beach trip back in April - I am so thankful for my husband Chris who found us a non-tourist trap local Cuban cafe to fill my breaded chicken fix at: Puerto Sagua!! It was so delicious - crispy seasoned on the outside, juicy breaded chicken on the inside complemented by a side of rice and sweet plantains, I mean you just can't go wrong here!

This layout was lifted/inspired by Amy Tan's layout here! I loved the colors and splatters - so I actually prepped this one before the retreat and did the splatters at home! I'm so glad I did too because it took an overnight+ for them to dry!

I used the Roller Rink kit by Studio Calico to complete this layout and I cut the Hello banner from the Silhouette using a cut from Studio Calico! I wasn't sure if I should bring the Silhouette with me, but so glad I did - I used it for ALL but 1 of the layouts!! I am hooked for sure!!

This is Awesome

I just had to make sure I finished these Miami pictures, so I printed my last 4 and put them on this layout! We had added an extra day to our trip when we got majorly delayed at the beginning of the week due to a SNOWSTORM IN APRIL leaving Rochester, but the reason this happened is so we could enjoy a burger (or 2) at Shake Shack on our last day!! A-MAZING!!!

I used the Sock Hop kit by Studio Calico for this, which included some incredible papers that I had to use, this was one of them! I couldn't cut it up so I used the whole thing here.

The awesome title was cut with the Silhouette using a cut from my Cut It Out class that is sponsored by Silhouette America and created by Ali Edwards! The planes were from the Transportation wood veneer by Studio Calico - I heart wood veneer!!

Smile Girls

Finally, some pics from my trip to Indiana this past May to visit my cousins and family out there!! This was a pic of us girls eating lunch in downtown Indianapolis :)

Inspiration came from this layout by Maggie Holmes! So simple and easy to recreate!

I used the Silhouette to cut the Love this title, which was a cut from the Cut It Out class as well! Enamel dots are so awesome - they can so quickly complete your layout it's ridiculous, no wait, what's ridiculous is later peeling off an enamel dot from the bottom of your shoe after a long weekend haha!!

Fortville, Indiana

These are my Mom and my Dad's houses where they lived around the corner from each other in small town Fortville, Indiana!! The little house on the left is where my Dad's hardworking parents raised their 4 children! My Dad grew up there and for many years we used to stay at that house when we visited my grandparents. My Mom was a transplant from Michigan, then Highland Indiana, and finally Forville where she started dating my Dad in high school!

I used the Roller Rink kit by Studio Calico. I just love those papers! The Good Life title was a cut in the Cut It Out class files and the hearts was a cut I got from Daniela Dobson's blog, both using the Silhouette!

I knew I wanted to take advantage of the Chevron pattern in the wood paper so I used the lines to add some sewing! Love how it turned out!

Hello Today

Some more pics from Turkey Run State Park, where we went with all my cousins, aunts, and uncles! Me and my cousins would run through those trails and we loved trail 3, so we went back on it to hike around!

I used the Sock Hop kit for this one which included those wood veneer feathers!! The background arrows cut is from the Studio Calico digital store!

I used my white Signo pen to white out the sentiment on the die cut branch and fill in the date!

Family

Sorry for the glare off the top picture. We drove out to the cemetery where my Dad's remains are buried with my Grandparents. It was hard to scrap this page but I'm glad I did. My cousins and my aunts (my Dad's twin sisters) were busy setting up the flowers and I just felt so loved and felt the love for my Dad. I can't wait to be reunited with them all someday in heaven.

The inspiration for this layout came from this layout by Celine Navarro. I used the Daydream Believer kit by Studio Calico.

Together

We got a really nice picture of my Dad's twin sisters, my wonderful aunts, and my two cousins (one is one of my aunt's daughters, the other cousin is my Dad's brother's daughter)! Of course my aunt's dogs had to jump in there too!

I used the Sock Hop kit from Studio Calico and really just wanted to keep this layout very simple!

I bought the together cut from DesignerDigitals.com created by Ali Edwards and camera and people cuts from the Silhouette Store by American Crafts. I added the triangle wood veneer where I think the flash of the old school camera would be!

Cobblestone Farm

This was a quick picture my husband Chris snapped when we went to buy a couple pumpkins for the specific purpose that we wanted to make and eat pumpkin seeds! I didn't carve any shapes this year, just a hole in the top to get the seeds!!

I just love the designs Geralyn Sy comes up with, so her layout here was my inspiration for this page! And I adore the Darling Dear collection that Studio Calico recently released!!

I bought the tree cut from the Silhouette Store by American Crafts. I used the wood veneer letters that came with the County Fair kit back in January by Studio Calico!

That's all for today!! I am missing the retreat coming up in March 2013 because we will be heading to Israel and not getting back till a few days before it, so that's it till next November!

Some birthday cards

I used my Silhouette to create these cards for my sister-in-law's nephew and my niece!! First I made this simple birthday card using the stars background came with the Cut It Out class I'm taking online at Studio Calico! I sized it down to fit this card and wanted to prevent it from making the card too busy, so cut it out of white paper. I found the cute karate cartoons from the Silhouette store and cut those too.

I stamped the birthday sentiment with individual Studio Calico letter stamps, and used the Amy Tangerine Sketchbook foam thickers for his name!

For this second card, I found those cupcakes from the Silhouette store and sized them down and cut them from colored paper. I added the "3" tag from the Central High kit while the paper is from the Roller Rink kit, both by Studio Calico as well.

Happy card making!

Sketchbook mini album!

Um, I started and finished this entire mini album this weekend!! My BFF from growing up here in Rochester, NY has a birthday coming up soon and she lives in Colorado now. Her parents moved away while we were still in college, so it's been a LONG time since she has been to our hometown, and her husband has never been here! I know she has lots of old pictures from growing up, so I thought I'd have my husband drive me around and get pics of all our old hang outs and places with memories! It turned out to be a really fun weekend, sort of like a scavenger photo hunt!

I used the Amy Tangerine Sketchbook Day book by American Crafts, and most of the embellishments are from the matching Sketchbook line! So here it is, completed! I scratched out some of the journaling that's more personal.

This first page is just my happy birthday message and about the album.

Here's her parent's old house that we spent a lot of time in!

A pic of my parent's house and my old bike that I used to ride between our houses just about every day of the summer and to go on bike rides with her family!

A photo where our streets intersected and a view down her street!

The middle school and high school we attended, along with my husband who we weren't friends with at the time!

Rochester loves Wegmans!! This was our local Wegmans we went to all the time!

One of our favorite Italian restaurants - Ricci's! Been going there since I was a little peanut with my friend's family and still go there today with my husband!!

Intermission.

A special Wendy's we ate at every Saturday with my friend's Dad and sister!

We grew up in the town that Kodak built. My Dad, my friend's Dad and my husband's Dad all worked there, and almost everyone I knew had at least 1 if not both parents who worked at Kodak! That is how my family (transplants from Indiana) ended up in Rochester.

Both me and my friend got to participate in Bring Your Daughter to Work Day! I think that's when I realized I wanted to be an engineer like my Dad, I just didn't know I would end up a software engineer. And I always assumed I'd end up working at Kodak.

Durand Eastman (like Eastman Kodak Co.), was a golf course, but most of us who were kids of the 80's remember it as the best place to go for sledding! That pic on the right is of one of the holes, aka one of the hills that we used to go sledding down!

Got a pic of me and a doe while we were walking around Durand to get these pictures!

Chris spotted a big buck deer on the side of the road as we were leaving Durand! I just happened to have my camera on me for this album so I got a few pictures!!

We went to Seabreeze (local amusement park) at least once a summer with my friend's family and enjoyed the rides and water slides!! Those were the best times!!

Another staple of Rochester is going to the lake and getting frozen custard from Abbott's! Mmmm so good!!

A place for new memories - my house with my wonderful husband!!

Birthday Card!

This is the first thing I've made with my new Silhouette Cameo!! This is a birthday card for my mother-in-law (GG) who is also a Grandma (to our niece and nephews)!

I used Kinsey's arrows and target cut file from here, then sized down a freebie from the Silhouette store with the sentiment to fit in it!

I loved how easy it was to type and size the letters - for which I ended up using the leftover piece instead of each individual letter. I used papers from the Roller Rink kit by Studio Calico, to back the image and added the little wooden chevrons by Sodalicious!

Romans 1:16-17, Romans 1:18-23, Romans 1:24-32

I grouped together my Sunday bible study notes from the past few weeks here, since I am trying not to post until I have full pages completed. So here's the message from several weeks ago:

I used Studio Calico's Central High kit to complete the pages. I added the verse Hebrews 12:2 to the little folder in the upper right corner.

I like these points:
* The power isn't in the messenger, it's in the message!
* Proclaim Him boldly, unashamedly

Continued from the second half of the first page, Romans 1:18-23:

I used pieces from the Roller Rink kit by Studio Calico, except the frame from the Yearbook collection by Studio Calico and the tag, I had sewed that a long time ago just for fun, but seemed to match the papers here.

* In order for God to be Holy and love that which is good, He has to hate evil
* God's saying, my wrath is being revealed by allowing man to do what he wants

And finally, the wrap up of Chapter 1!

I kept these pages real simple since I had a lot of text to cover. I used a Tim Holtz stamp (the guy with the umbrella), which always looked sort of lonely to me, which is what you'd be without God!

* God can save you no matter what state you are in - the heart of God is to save you
* Love the sinner, not the sin

Baby Shower card

I made this card for my husband's cousin, our cousin, who is expecting a little girl! I got the inspiration for filling the hearts from here but changed it up a little and made heart shapes!

I saved some of my packaging from removing my stamps and throwing into stamp storage, and cut some hearts from that and from pieces of paper (from the Roller Rink kit by Studio Calico) and then sewed them together, and adding some punched hearts before finishing up! I had also cut some sentiments from a piece of paper and adhered them to the hearts before starting to sew.

After I finished the three hearts, I realized it looked kind of plain directly to the card, so I added a couple background papers to make them stand out and added the sentiment with letter stickers from Basic Grey (the light gray) and Studio Calico (the red ones are from the Wonderland collection).
